Declaration at Alma-Ata

In 1978 at the International Conference on Primary Health Care in Alma-Ata, global agreement was made on the need for urgent action by all governments, all health and development workers, and the world community to protect and promote the health of all the people of the world.

The Alma-Ata Declaration of 1978 emerged as a major milestone of the twentieth century in the field of public health, and it identified primary health care as the key to the attainment of the goal of Health for All. The declaration can be accessed here.

Primary Health Care Research Information Service (PHC RIS)

PHC RIS is a national primary health care organisation based at Flinders University in South Australia in the Department of General Practice. It is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing. PHC RIS works in partnership with the Divisions of General Practice Network, primary health care researchers and policy advisors to generate, manage and share information and knowledge that contributes to policy and improves performance.

Australian Primary Health Care Research Institute (APHCRI)

APHCRI is an Australian Government initiative established with the aim of embedding a research culture in Australian general practice and primary health care.
